If you were to say twenty years ago that being able to increase one’s height naturally is possible, you would have been laughed out of the room. Recently, science has found that there are in fact certain methods of increasing the level of hormone that is responsible for human growth that can make you grow taller naturally, irrespective of your age.
Method #1: Shorter, intense workouts – when you exercise with high intensity, the level of growth hormone in the body goes through the roof. What exercises you choose is not as important as the intensity level with which you perform them with. For example, if you run, sprint in short bursts, use heavier weights with less repetitions and less rest between sets, increase incline level when you use the treadmill, and so on. If your intensity level is high, your workouts should last only about 30 minutes.
Method #2: Nutrition – eat foods rich in calcium, zinc, chromium and magnesium. Foods that contain calcium and zinc include milk, yoghurt and eggs. Meat is a good source of chromium and it’s best if you can buy a magnesium supplement in a pill form. Foods that you need to avoid if you want to become taller include refined sugars, simple carbohydrates, salt and alcohol, as they decrease the production of human growth hormone in the body.
Method #3: Spine-lengthening exercises – there are specific spine-lengthening activities that have proven to be very beneficial for adding inches to one’s height. They include stretches, hanging and swimming. Stretching exercises you can try out are: cobra, upper- and lower-body slant and the sky stretch.
Method #4: Sleep – the level of human growth hormone increases during sleep, so it’s vital that you get 7-8 hours of sleep every night. It’s also important to stretch out and decompress your spine as much as possible during this time. In order to do so, you should sleep on your back and you should be stretched out. Sleep on a firm mattress and use a small pillow as large pillows tend to interfere with the correct alignment between the neck and spine.
